Campari continues this narrative by offering three young talents sponsored by director Fred de Pontcharra of Mandibule Production, formerly known as French Lab Agency, the opportunity to create three short films. Rooted in the warm ambiance of a bar and featuring the brand’s icons – its bartenders – these films explore three emblematic periods, each associated with a Campari cocktail: the 1930s with the Campari Negroni, the 1960s with the Campari Negroni Sbagliato, and the 2000s with the Campari Spritz. The directors had carte blanche to choose their scenarios from those written by Doria Achour and Sylvain Cattenoy, adding a personal touch to the storytelling.
To emphasize this privileged partnership, Campari is organizing « La Séance » on December 9 at MK2 Bastille in Paris. This exclusive event will allow a select few to have a first look at the unique creations of these young talents. Inspired by Fred de Pontcharra’s 2020 photo series « Unlocks the Unexpected, » which captured bars frozen in silence during confinement, this challenge invites promising filmmakers to revisit three key periods in Campari’s history through short films, adhering to a unity of time, place (within the confines of a single bar), and artistic codes of each era.
Johanna Bros, Alexis Jaulmes, Victor Boyer, and Carlos Abascal Peiró enthusiastically delved into the 1930s, 1960s, and 2000s, respectively associated with the creation of Campari Negroni, Campari Negroni Sbagliato, and Campari Spritz. These short films evoke silent cinema, the New Wave, and the western, serving as a reminder that the seventh art and mixology share common values such as creativity, demand for excellence, and the pursuit of perfect balance.
